Anime that alternated from one season to another

Can you think of any anime series that had one great season, then one mediocre season, then one good season again, then one bad season etc.? Tell me some anime series that weren't consistent quality-wise from one season to another.
 
I haven’t seen one that exactly follows hat formula, but the second season of Minami-Ke is seen as the dark horse of the series. They changed studios and not only had a drastic change in art style, but they also had it be all original, and changed the format of the show. The series reverted back to the season 1 format after.
 
not that i know of.
usually people get disappointed if the anime season doesn't go well with their expectations
