why do they make robots so lifelike? i saw this anime where chi is like a normal girl.
i saw another anime where some boy looks like a human kid and even made in abyss had a human like robot

You are specifically talking about andro-humanoids. There's a whole genre called mecha that does have anthropomorphic features but don't actually look like a human.

Most likely due to the fact we will have life like robots one day in real life. But only because they are mecha doesn't mean they have to look clunky like one.

not machines that can be controlled by humans.
i don't consider them as robots they are just war tanks. it's same thing if you consider a spaceship as a robot. you are getting the wrong idea for robot

What they are the same thing. Robots are basically machines they don't always have to be fully automated. Instead of controlling them remotely they are controlled via a cockpit that's the only difference.

Yeah those robots are specifically called Andro-humanoids. They've been a staple of cinema, anime and TV since a long long time. Ghost in the Shell itself was inspired by Blade Runner from the early 80's, a science fiction masterpiece.
