Any favorites?  Why is this so?  Has anyone played any anime music - say in a concert band etc.?

i never played and i don't have a talent for music. as you asked this in anime section, do you really think anyone would have played in something huge?

Some of my favorites is Yuki Kaijura, Kotoko, Nana Muzuki, Revo of Sound Horizon, Grandoredo, Ali Project and many others.

As far as my own skills go, I have never played anything.

have you googled any anime band music? most of the opening and ending songs are from the bands. they do it for promotion and they can get popular with they do it right.

From what I understand most anime makers will seek out a certain band or their song to make their op/ed around. So most of the time they get it right.

there are songs to anime which don't make any sense. they are not planned ahead like you said.

From what I understand they are, it could be that the makers simply don't know how to choose something that fits.
