One of the characters from one of the anime's that I respect a ton, is Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z. He had a ton of development as a character, that it made him more than just the guy that started out as a villain, but the guy that changed enough to no longer cause issues with things that come up in the future, that no longer would provoke him to the point of wanting to destroy the world.
