I'm still a strong believer that Naruto would be better without Sasuke. Well it's not that i want Sasuke to be deleted from the series, but he seriously need to re-write
Death Note without Near I guess. He's a budget version of L who's more annoying and doesn't earn the right to defeat Light, from a narrative standpoint and thematically.
Usopp from One Piece as well, I've never liked him and he contributes zilch to the story. His one good part is when he becomes Sogeking in pre-time-skip and God Usopp in post-time-skip though both are used for comedic elements mostly.

Well near didn't defeat light by himself.
He got help from Mello and together they defeated light.
