Anime as social critics

Mid 80's there is a series that i think symbolize opposition for modernization and capitalism(?) Mr.Ajikko

This series is about cooking, the story mainly is about how traditional japanese restaurant struggling against modern, rich, chain restaurant that maybe at that time invaded Japan, not sure if that's the case but in Indonesia mid 80's is the first phase of foreign chain restaurant start invading

Well assuming that's the case, i think it's good to use anime as medium to critic society because the audiences not only get entertainment but something else to think as well

It could be anything, i think.. using anime for social critics is kinda effective and give more color to the story
