AMD vs Intel

What processor brand do you prefer: AMD or Intel?

They say that AMD scores a few points below Intel at photo and video editing, but it is a lot cheaper and it's better at overclocking. Intel is considered to be overpriced and not good with gaming.

Just depends on your needs, they make a lot of different processors.
Yeah, but there are people out there who choose a processor according to their personal preference, not according to their needs. Personally, I am an AMD fanboy, and I try to avoid Intel processors. Just like with cellphones (people preferring iPhones or Androids despite the fact that the same apps are available for both operating systems), with processors too. AMD and Intel have been adversaries for years, and each of the two companies has its fanbase who supports and defends it.

I used to be an AMD fanboy.
Unfortunately my old AMD laptop keeps overheating.
My intel MacBook Air is silent and almost never hot. Even when editing pictures.

I've never heard that AMD was better for gaming, in fact quite the opposite. There's a few games they say run like crap on AMD processors. I prefer AMD and I remember the days when they were both cheaper and faster than Intel but those days are gone. You get more bang for your buck, yes, but the fastest AMD CPUs right now are only comparable with the mid range Intel ones.
