Do you think oda would have done something to make ace a stronger character? He always had that sacrificial pawn vibe
 
i liked him a lot and he deserved much more. it was meaningless for luffy and the entire battle and many lives were lose for nothing. in the end they couldn't save him and even whitebeard died.
