The story and movie was awesome but seriously couldn't they come up with a little more appealing guy for the hero role? Tell me I'm wrong but that illustration could have been a lot better

Are you saying that he should have been traditionally handsome, or that he's ugly? For the story they were trying to tell it wouldn't have made sense for them to make him look handsome.

I'm just saying that it would not have hurt to make him a little nicer at least do something with hair or something and I think it would have fit his role just fine

Yeah lol this is kinda my life motto but I'm just saying for the sake of the movie u know. Normally the hero is at least a little presentable

Personally I don't think he looks ugly. Sure he doesn't look handsome, but the story is not about every girl in his school falling head over heels for him.
The other thing is the studio that made this, Kyoto Animation, is famous for having the most beautiful character designs, girls and boys alike.
