Why do people fight to prove their favourite anime character is very strong?

i think i get it but i don't quite get it lol.
when the author leaves it as a what if question, it certainly makes sense but if it's clear the character had hit it's limit, why do people still fight for it?

That's just what it is. Sometimes people compete in strange things and they want to prove their point by arguing their character is at the top of the world man.

It seems that the majority of debates arise when one individual evaluates a character they are well-informed about over another character they have not researched, prompting fans of the latter to attempt to correct inaccuracies. Additionally, in most cases I observe, nearly everyone involved lacks a proper understanding of the abilities or strengths of one of the characters being compared, resulting in a terribly uninformed discussion.

It's like comparing apple to oranges?

As somebody who role plays with different anime characters, it's always interesting to compare and contrast different anime characters, especially form differing shows. Most people don't try to assign numerical stats to characters for comparing them.
