Code Geass:Lelouche of the rebellion episodes 1-13 discussion

I am really loving this anime. I am not a fan though of the senseless killing within it. I like Lelouche and the other characters and the basic story in here. I'm sad for the sister Nanali though. I wish that she would get back her sight and be able to lead a normal life soon. She is such a sweetheart. Lelouche is fighting for the better of everyone. I wish that his friend could see that and join him instead of standing against him. They could do so much better united. The way his behavior in the 12 and 13th episodes is makes you wonder a bit though as to what is really going on. I wonder if maybe Kallen has a thing for him and just hasn't noticed as yet. C.C seems to have a crush on him. I like the way Shirley stood up for him but I'm hoping that his identity is not revealed with the enemy chick that Ollie has saved. I guess that I will have to wait an see. I loved the episode with the cat. It was so funny the way Lelouche went after it screaming that he wasn't going to be exposed by a CAT lol Korowaki seems to be a good guy but after the shock images I am wondering if maybe he was abused by his dad. He was really shaken up by those images. I'm wondering what will happen once the truth abouth zero and kurawaki are out. Would they be able to remain friends or what? Please comment only on these 13 episodes here and not past them. Thanks :)

this is straight romance through and through.
i liked it and i always shipped lelouch and cc. lelouch is only concern is nannaly and he never cared for anybody else, which is just sad. it will be a spoiler to know the friendship. do you mind spoilers, blackrose?

Unfortunately I am not a manga reader.
But I have seen the anime till the end...so I am familiar with the story.
I don't remember that funny cat scene but it sounds fun :D

That's so cool man.
You read all the 13 chapters in one go. How many chapters are there in manga?

if i remember correctly everything has been adapted in anime from manga.
you wouldn't miss any story because of it and only watching anime

You put chapters instead of episodes.
The cat episode was a bit silly but fun. Just wanna ask Suzaku is saved by Zero during some sort of a large public gathering right? And this anime immediately hooked me from episode 1 with its fast-pacing, colourful visuals, crazy action and dialogues. Lelouche is just straight-up entertaining as Zero, you could just watch him ramble on for hours. And of course the mecha battles are good but it's the dialogue and the story that's great about this anime.

No it was a typo we are discussing the anime here.

isn't blackrose reading the manga for this anime?
how can it be an original anime without any manga? is it a light novel?

No it was a typo she is watching the anime.
No it's an original anime that was created by Sunrise. There are lots of original anime it's not some derivative medium. Kill la Kill, Madoka, Psycho-Pass, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Yuri on Ice are all original anime.

i never knew that. how can they come up with the story? there has to be something for the animators to make the animation.
they can't create something with nothing to go on

Well animators are not braindead idiots you know there are people who write stories in the industry.
PA Works for example creates original anime all the time, Charlotte, Shirobako, Angel Beats are original.

you got me wrong. they have to write a story and get it published to know whether it would work and capture any attention or not.
then they must have released something for that before making it an anime

What? Then how do TV series and movies get made? Do people have to publish their script in the open for it to get approved?
There are processes for original anime to get made as well, the producers get a good writer to write a certain story for them. Production IG wanted to make a Sci-FI series like Ghost in the Shell, they were impressed with Gen Urobuchi's work in Madoka so they asked him to write Psycho Pass.

i never placed anime with movies. for me anime always comes from manga or light novels or sometimes from manhwa and manhua.
thank you

Yeah that's a huge misconception. Historically the best-selling anime in Japan have been original. Right from Neon Genesis Evangelion all the way to Yuri on Ice and Kemono Friends.
Even Zombieland Saga, which sold incredibly well last year is original.

that's all unexpected news to me. i don't even compare anime with other animation movies like Incredibles 2, the grinch and many other movies.
many people might be doing the same

They buy and read manga more than watch anime so there's no need for them to buy blu-rays of anime adaptations but it's not the case for original anime that's why.
I mean some anime adaptations manage to sell extremely well. Like Bakemonogatari or Haikyuu.

i don't agree with that. they buy manga but many people watch anime too and you can't rule out the possibility that it's slowly changing and anime are getting more and more ratings now.
do you really think aot wouldn't have many viewers from japan?

No they don't actually. Anime itself is considered not very highly there, people treat those who watch anime like nerds. And it also doesn't help that almost every anime is aired late in the night.
It obviously has viewers but the manga has managed to sell consistently as much as a juggernaut like One Piece so it's not the primary medium of consumption there whereas it's the inverse here the anime is obviously several times more popular here.

how can they that for something that originated from their own country? how can some viewers are nerds but reading the same story is good?
i don't get it at all

Anime didn't originate from their country though. Anime is short for animation.
It's because of all the tropes and everything that don't sit well with normal people.
